Online Lectures

In 2019 I produced a series of videos for the Introduction to International Relations course that I teach — a first-year undergraduate course. It was part of the university’s push to develop ‘blended learning’ courses.

The videos aren’t meant to replace a normal one hour lecture, but to supplement it (the videos are 6-9 mins long). They are embedded in a whole new online platform that includes lots of other online materials and resources, as well as videos on other topics by other scholars (which I can’t upload here). So these don’t constitute a whole course, but they do cover several theories and a few other key concepts, actors, and topics.

Given the crisis created by the COVID-19 global pandemic, many colleagues around the world have been scrambling to transition to online delivery of courses originally designed for face-to-face teaching.

For anyone looking for material to help them during this crisis, I wanted to make these videos available. Obviously they reflect my course design and approach as well as the Australian context, and I use them in conjunction with the textbook I co-edit, but they may still be useful to others.

They won’t replace whatever else you’re doing in your courses, but they may be useful as supplemental resources. Anyhow, I offer them in the hope they might be helpful.
